An applied lab for the age of coding agents

Paitite Research is the research lab of Paitite. We work on one problem: how people stay in control of software that AI agents increasingly write.

Applied research

We start from problems that teams meet when they hand real work to coding agents, and we answer them with working tools. Ideas that hold up in practice ship in open-source projects. Ideas that do not are written up as notes, together with what we learned.

We prefer narrow claims we can check to broad claims we cannot. Every item on our research agenda says whether it has shipped, is in progress or is still an open question.

What we publish

  • Open-source tools under the MIT license, starting with DiffWitness and IdleProof.
  • Protocols and threat models, published alongside the code.
  • Notes on the problems we work on and the reasoning behind our choices.

Paitite

Paitite Research is part of Paitite. Our core tools are open source under the MIT license and run locally. Paitite is also building the Portal, an optional commercial layer for team history and coordination. The tools do not need it, and it is designed to work without source code, raw prompts or diffs.

Why Paitite

Paititi is the lost city of the Incas.

Legends place it in the rainforest east of the Andes, somewhere between southeastern Peru and northern Bolivia. Explorers have searched for it since the sixteenth century, and it has never been found.

We chose the name with that in mind. Research is mostly the work of mapping ground nobody has charted yet, and of saying clearly which parts of the map are still blank.
